THERE ARE NOW A RANGE COURSES THAT ARE AIMED AT HCP, BIRTH PROFESSIONALS AND PRE & POST NATAL SPECIALISTS, LIKE YOU, WHO WISH TO DO MORE TO ADEQUATELY SUPPORT THE EMOTIONAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF PARENTS.
Perhaps you work with women in the postnatal period who have suffered a traumatic birth or are experiencing high levels of anxiety or are even depressed.
Or maybe you are an antenatal teacher who struggles to help mums and dads recover from previous traumatic birth experiences to be able to prepare calmly for their next birth.
Perhaps you are a HCP who has witnessed a traumatic birth or who wishes to feel more resilient emotionally.
Do you frequently hear distressing birth stories but feel impotent to help or support?
Traumatic Birth Recovery offers a range of online courses for birth professionals that are only available currently as online study.
On successful completion of the TBR 3 Step Rewind course and its assessments students can become recognised TBR practitioners and work with parents who wish to be free of trauma symptoms.
This recognised Practitioner status means that these professionals can be listed on the Find a Practitioner page, access 1-2-1 supervision and refer to themselves as TBR Practitioners.
Students who complete all of the online courses can convert their qualification to a TBR Certificate in Perinatal Emotional Health & Wellbeing and can refer to themselves as Perinatal Emotional Health & Wellbeing Practitioners.
This commitment of study is over 140 hours, with monthly small group tutorials, in person study days, continued assessment and monthly supervision.
Practitioners with this level of training are able to support a range of issues from depression, anxiety, loss and birth injury, as well as trauma which often informs these issues.
All courses are CPD listed and recognised.
TBR 3 Step Rewind
Who is this course for: HCP and birth professionals who work with parents who are experiencing trauma symptoms.
Aims & Objectives: To learn a clear and simple 3 step process that when applied can lift trauma symptoms. To gain a thorough understanding of what trauma symptoms from a neurological and experiential perspective. To know how to work safely with traumatised parents.
How long is the online course? 16 hours, however 3 assessments and participation in supervision is also required.

Understanding Perinatal Anxiety - How Build Emotional Resilience in Ourselves and Others
Who is this course for: HCP and birth professionals who work with parents who are experiencing anxiety.
Aims & Objectives: To understand the nuances of PNA and how they differ from anxiety at other life stages. To provide the knowledge and skill to identify Perinatal anxiety and to work with parents to share practices that can neutralise anxiety and enable balance and calm.

Supporting Baby Loss & Miscarriage
Who is this course for: HCP and birth professionals who work with parents who have experienced loss and are looking for therapeutic support to cope with grief and trauma symptoms.
Aims & Objectives: To understand the grieving process from the perspective of parents. To be able to support them more effectively at different stages of their grieving journey. Addressing some of the common issues that grieving parents suffer with such as; panic, anxiety, trauma symptoms, societies view of perinatal grief and coping with subsequent pregnancies. Providing strategies and exercises to help with these issues.
This course is only currently available online.

- A look at the statistics behind miscarriage and baby loss.
- Understanding grief and loss from a parents point of view, the natural range of emotions and experience.
- Understanding cultural and societal expectations, biases and prejudices around perinatal loss and how these can contribute to and compound the aspects of trauma.
- Understanding the overlap between grief and trauma symptoms.
- Understanding different types of grief that are particular to perinatal loss.
- Looking at how different strategies for support could work at different times throughout a parent’s grief journey
- Demonstration of core listening, acknowledging and validation skills.
- Checking in with our own empathy, bias and experience.
- Audio and script versions of the exercises to experience the steps first hand.
Understanding Perinatal Depression
Who is this course for: HCP and birth professionals who work with parents who are experiencing low mood or symptoms of depression.
Aims & Objectives: To learn clear, simple techniques and therapeutic tools and process that when applied can support a person’s recovery from depression. To gain a thorough understanding of what drive symptoms of depression, looking at the causes rather than risk factors.
How long is the online course? 16 hours, however 3 assessments and participation in supervision is also required.

All courses are recognised as CPD and accredited by CPDUK. I am currently also seeking accreditation with the RCM, however despite not having this I have worked with 8 NHS trusts so far.
