My name is Silvie, and I am a play therapist and psychological for more than ten years. I work in my own practice and for eight years I’ve worked in a centre that treats children with developmental disorders.
In my basic training, a foundation was laid about psychology and development, but I felt for a long time that there was so much more to this. I started to immerse myself in the developmental psychology and ended up in pre and perinatal psychology. I learned that our start in the womb and our experience during childbirth can determine further development. So, I wanted to continue working on this.
This knowledge also determined my own choices when I became pregnant. These choices were often different from the choices of many other people around me and that was not always easy. My first planned home birth turned into a hospital birth and although this was quite a beautiful experience, I had also experienced how quickly birth workers can go beyond your boundaries. After my first pregnancy I had a miscarriage, and this was another learning in how difficult it is to deal with these experiences as a parent today. Now I am mother of two beautiful girls who are my great mentors in life.
My own experiences and craving for more in-depth knowledge about human development led me to train as a perinatal counsellor. I want to do more than just guide the children who are struggling. I also want to try to work preventively by being able to offer young parents the right help during their pregnancy and after their delivery so that long-term problems can be prevented.
Working with mothers and their birth stories, I was searching for more helpful tools that would help relieve mothers of their trauma in a more gentle and effective way. This led me to the TBR 3 Step Rewind Technique, and I finished the training to become a TBR 3 step rewind practitioner.
